How To Create a Chic Wardrobe

If you're looking to switch up your wardrobe and create a more overall chic look, then there are some great hints and tips for you to follow. Whether you are looking for a new designer wardrobe, a mix of unique pieces and high street items, or are thrifting for everything you need, there is always something you can do to make any outfit look great.

The word chic translates to "elegantly and stylishly fashionable", which can seem ambiguous if you're unsure what style to aim for. Everyone has their own fashion preferences and clothes that they feel comfortable in. One of the foundations of creating a chic wardrobe is comfort which can only happen if you find clothes that fit you perfectly. Squeezing into jeans that are even one size too small for you will only make you feel restricted all day, and you will reflect that in your movement and interactions with the people around you. Wearing items that are too big for you will mean you are constantly adjusting your outfit. It might be tempting to keep a pair of jeans that don't fit you (whether too big or too small) in the hopes of wearing them again one day. We know that sizes are supposed to be universal; however, the fit and style of an item of clothing can sit differently across all the different body shapes. You don't need your dream figure to dress well. You need to find the clothes that are right for you as you are at this moment.

A few key pieces can be a great addition to any wardrobe, but it is also essential to think about your colour palette. If you know that your skin and hair suit a specific set of colour tones, then work these into any key pieces you want to invest in. Keeping main wardrobe staples within a particular colour range means that you can easily mix and match your outfits and get more versatility without having an overflowing closet. If you want to go for tones of Spring, you could opt for a pastel coatigan or jacket, a neutral long cashmere cardigan, and complimentary pastel shades for your trousers, tops, and dresses. These combinations could create endless possibilities that could be casual or formal, depending on your footwear and accessories. Finding coordinating items is also a great way to create multiple looks with minimal investment, as you can wear these pieces together or with your other clothes.

Body confidence and positivity are other foundations of looking and feeling chic. Many fashion brands realise that we all have different requirements for our clothes and have started to become more inclusive with what they offer. These inclusive features can be having sizes that exceed the usual (many brands now include XXS-XXL or more), maternity clothes, petite ranges, tall ranges, and other specific requirements a brand's customer base might desire. The increase in inclusivity is excellent for everyone as it means brands are paying more attention to the finer details, such as leg length, meaning you're more likely to be able to find something that fits well.

Accessories are essential to complete an overall look. You will want a bag that looks great and is functional and easy to wear. You need to consider how many items you need to carry with you on a daily basis and make sure your bag can easily accommodate these items. You may want a larger bag for your commute or daily work schedule and a selection of smaller bags for your leisure time for your phone, keys, and other essential items. If your accessories suit your needs, you can be relaxed and chic knowing that you have everything you require.

Overall, in order to become a chic queen, you need to make sure your outfit fits perfectly, your accessories match the tone of the occasion, and most importantly, that you feel great. Investing in beautiful fabrics is one of the best ways to feel like you're wrapping yourself in luxury; think along the lines of cashmere, silk, organic cotton, linen, and soft types of denim. These fabrics may need extra care and attention when washing and drying, but they are certainly worth it.
